My mom wrote a love letter to her family before she passed away on October 23rd this year. My husband found this letter on her computer. We gave a copy of this letter to each of the members of the family at the graveside service for mom. The first paragraph is a follows:
"Because you may be wondering why I am writing to you, I'll give you a little background. The reasons are piling up to the point that I feel that it is something I must do-write a love letter to my family. You see, I love you so much that it would be a shame not to tell you in a concrete and lasting way before I am no longer here or no longer able to do so."
I will not submit the whole letter. However, I would like to share portions of it so that more people may benefit from her words.
"The most important things that I do have been inspired by God, my loving Heavenly Father. Not only are they begun by Him, but they are enabled by Him, and finished by Him through me. Have you ever felt strongly that you should do something but didn't know how or where to begin? I have. This verse helped me: I Thessalonians 5:24--Faithful is he who calls you, who will also do it. (through you) You are important to Him."
"He created you and chose you for His purpose. He is all-knowing, all powerful and everywhere present. There is no other God but the great Triune yet only One, "I AM", which He calls himself because it is always present time with Him. He is the sovereign of the universe, He owns everything and controls with only good intentions. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are greater than our ways, so we may not always understand Him, but when we need to know, His Spirit, known as the Holy Spirit will help us to comprehend or assure us His motives are pure."
"If you are too young to perceive what I am saying, just wait, in His timing it will suddenly appear clear like crystal and you will say "Aha! How wonderful, too wonderful for mere man to have conceived on his own." I hope that time will occur earlier than later. It is better to be wise than to say "if only I had learned that before". May I suggest that you look up and memorize these verses of scripture, which also expresses my desires".
Psalms 25:4-5:
Show me your ways, O Lord,
Teach me your paths,
Guide me in your truth, and teach me;
For You are God my Savior, and
My hope is in You all day long.
