Valentines for my Grandsons (click here to view my blog)

I'm giving Monster Hugs to our grandsons this Valentines Day.  I made three and I'm giving them the rest of the package so that they can make some Valentines too!  I repurposed a My Paper Pumpkin box to hold all the Valentines and candy treats.  The English Crackers/Poppers are packed in there too.  I taught my Monday classes how to make them with the Envelope Punch Board and Simply Scored Tool.  We all enjoyed making them.  I love reminding the kids about the love of God.  It's a perfect time to share Bible verses that talk about how we should love the Lord with all our heart, mind and strength.

Here are the instructions for the English Crackers/Poppers.

Crackers or Poppers with the Envelope Punch Board

Card Stock:  Whisper White 2” strip; Basic Black 2” strip; DSP:  Fresh Prints:  cut to 4 ½ x 6 Ink:  Real Red; Stamp Sets:  A Round Array, Lable Love; Tools:  Envelope Punch Board, Simply Scored Board, Punch:  Artisan Label Punch, 7/8” scallop circle, 1” circle; Red Ribbon (2) 7”; Candy

  1.  Simply Scored Board:  with the 6” side at the top, score at:  ¾”, 1 ¼”, 1 ¾”, 4 ¼”, 4 ¾” and 5 ¼”
  2. Simply Scored Board:  with the 4 ½” side at the top, score at:  1”, 2”, 3” and 4”
  3. Fold and crease on all score lines before punching the holes.  On the short ends “valley fold” the center score line.  “Mountain fold each of the other end score lines.
  4. With the 6” side at the top, start punching on the end with the larger space between the score lines.  Place the DSP into the Envelope Punch Board so that the left score line is lined up with the “tail” or “point” of the punch and the center score line is under the punch.  Fold down each scored line and repeat until all sections have been punched.
  5. Place a strong adhesive like Tombow Liquid Glue on the tab edge of the box and fold the other side of the box over to close.  Fill with candy.  Tie ribbons on each end with a loose knot.
  6. Stamp and punch the label and the circle sentiment. Punch the black 1” circle.  Mount circle and label with dimensionals.  Assemble.

Happy Valentines Day!

Karen
